Lakewood man drowns in Lake Elsinore

A Lakewood man drowned while out on the water in Lake Elsinore on Monday, Aug. 1, authorities said this week.

Around 4 p.m., two personal watercrafts had stalled about 40 yards from the beach, behind the 1400 block of Lakeshore Drive, and a man was found unconscious and in the water, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Life-saving measures were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 42-year-old Jason Ledezma.

It was unclear whether Ledezma had suffered a medical emergency before falling into the water. What happened to the rider of the second watercraft was not available.

Anyone with information on the drowning can contact Deputy Buonarigo at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station by calling 951-245-3300.
