Pearl Jam announces two shows at the Forum in Inglewood in April

Pearl Jam thrilled fans with the announcement that the long-running band’s long hiatus will end this spring with a new album and a tour that includes two shows at the Forum in Inglewood in April in the week between Coachella weekends.

It’s been a while since Pearl Jam has been this active. Frontman Eddie Vedder has kept busy with solo projects and curating his Ohana Festival at Doheny State Beach. The rest of the band had their own work, too, most prominently a 2016 reunion of the Seattle grunge supergroup Temple of the Dog with the late singer Chris Cornell.

And while they’ve toured some in recent years, these will be the first Southern California shows since two nights at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in November 2013.

But this is the real deal. The 11th studio album — a work titled “Gigaton,” its first since “Lightning Bolt” in 2013 — comes out March 27 and the tour includes stops at the Forum on April 15-16.

“Making this record was a long journey,” said Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready in a statement announcing the album and the shows. “It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on ‘Gigaton’ ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”

Pearl Jam had previously announced a European summer tour. The 16 dates revealed Monday are the first leg of the band’s North American run, which starts March 18 in Toronto and wraps April 18-19 at the Oakland Arena in Oakland.

Ticket sales for the shows are … complicated. It’s Pearl Jam, who famously fought Ticketmaster, and has long staked out its ground as protectors of fans when it comes to tickets. Here’s the run-down.

Members of the Ten Club, the Pearl Jam fan club, as of Sunday, Jan. 12 can submit requests to buy tickets through midnight Wednesday, Jan. 15.

You can also register for Ticketmaster’s verified fan program now through midnight Wednesday, Jan. 15, and a special pre-sale for verified fans will begin at 10 a.m. in the time zone where the venue is located on Thursday, Jan. 23. Go to verifiedfan.ticketmaster.com/pearljam to register.

After all that, the general ticket sales opens 10 a.m. local time on Friday, Jan. 24.

There are strict limits on the ability to transfer or resell tickets to stop scalping. Details on that and everything else can be found at Pearljam.com
