“New Girl” star and expecting mother Zooey Deschanel has moved closer to a sale of her cute mini-country estate in the Hollywood Hills for $ 2.195 million. According to various media outlets, Deschanel put her pad up for sale on April 27, although the listing didn’t hit the market until early May. We can’t explain the conflict in the timeline, but it surely doesn’t matter to Deschanel, because the home has already moved to pending sale status.
Deschanel bought the three-bedroom beauty from fellow actor Mark Ruffalo in 2009 for $ 1.65 million. And while it looks like Deschanel will make out with about $ 500,000 in profit from the home’s sale—assuming the recent kitchen remodel didn’t cost half a million—Ruffalo didn’t make a cent on the property when he sold it to Deschanel, according to Berg Properties. Hulk sad.
But just looking at the photos of this charming, 2,957-square-foot home built in 1933 can chase any blues away. The renovated chef’s kitchen is a cheery deep blue, with marble counters and a farmhouse sink. Ceilings in the living room and dining room have exposed wood beams, bringing country-style living to the Hills. The living room is a rich green, and a fireplace—one of at least two—extends that woodsy feel. Two iPads looped in to hidden speakers allow for music throughout the home.
Outside, the property is lush with trees and roomy enough for parties. Plans for a pool are included, and there’s a guest cottage out back for when the house gets too full.
Because Deschanel and her film producer fiancé/baby daddy, Jacob Pechenick, are expecting, the Hollywood duo decided to upgrade and expand with the purchase of a $ 4.5 million Manhattan Beach, CA, home early last month, according to Variety. The couple, who became engaged in January, have decided to keep the gender of their baby a surprise until Deschanel gives birth this summer, according to US Weekly.
