It’s the weekend, and even those not on the market for a home like to be looky-loos. Here’s one having an open house that caught our eye:
Address: 605 S. Woodland St., Orange
Asking price: $ 935,000
Size: 1,775 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms
Highlights: Built in 1961 by post-World War II developer Joseph Eichler , the home has the developer’s classic appearance: Exposed post-and-beam construction, open-air atriums, sliding doors and integrated indoor and outdoor spaces. But the finishes have been updated, and the lot, over a quarter acre, is nearly 50 percent larger than the average lot in the neighborhood. The backyard includes walking paths, a black bottom pool and plenty of greenery. The “estate lot” size is rare for Eichlers, the agent says, and they don’t come up for sale often.
The market: The October median price for ZIP code 92869 was $ 535,000, a drop of 8.5 percent from October 2014. The median, where half the homes sold for more and half for less, can be affected by the types of homes sold, changes in values, or both. There were 43 homes sold in this ZIP code in September, up 19.4 percent from October 2014, according to CoreLogic’s latest monthly figures.
Agent: Kelly Laule, Better Living SoCal
Open house: Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Sunday, 12-4 p.m.
BTW: Another Eichler house, also updated, is for sale across the street at 586 S. Woodland St. for $ 890,000.
