An oceanfront Monarch Beach estate on a bluff-top corner with sweeping views of waves lapping the sand is selling for $ 33 million – or it can be rented at $ 100,000 a month.

Provence Sur Mer is the most expensive home on the market in Dana Point.

The French-style estate unfolds like a boutique hotel.

The 9,100-square-foot house includes a round, built-in dining room table with a firepit in the center, near disappearing pocket doors that open to the sprawling coastline.

A subterranean indoor court for basketball, racquetball or squash can also be set up for volleyball or badminton, and later, transformed into a disco. The property boasts two “endless” swimming pools with currents to swim against, indoors and out.

Set on two thirds of an acre, the house has 400-year-old limestone flooring, imported fireplaces and a host of Provencal features.

The chef’s kitchen includes a 10-burner Dynasty stove, a wide center island with a farm sink and seating, a beamed ceiling, dormer windows and a breakfast nook amidst curved windows and a backdrop of trees.

An indoor spa, sauna and steam room offer pampering. Foggy morning? The house is equipped with an indoor tanning machine.

One of the downstairs levels includes a “French bistro” with a full kitchen. An entertainment area, which includes a theater and game room, offers a peek at the bottom of the outdoor swimming pool. A temperature controlled wine cellar holds 1,600 bottles.

Built in 2001, the estate has a separate guest house across the patio, which is wired for sound and appointed with manicured gardens and fruit trees.

The owners are empty nesters who live part of the year in France and want to relocate to the San Francisco Bay area to be closer to family.
